Topic: LOST IN TV - PREVIEW SCREENING AT TRASH Name: david Date: 18-10-01 17:52 expect plenty of exciting club activity around the release of dvd. here's what's happening at our favourite london nightspot, trash . . . Monday 19th November: "LOST IN TV" SUEDE EXCLUSIVE DVD Party Lost In TV is a visual history of one of the UK’s most important and influential bands. Suede kick-started the renaissance in British guitar groups, weathered the inevitable fall-out, survived various personnel changes and inspired a generation of starry-eyed dreamers and bedsit musicians – here was a band worth believing in. They were the first “alternative” act to be awarded the Mercury Music Prize, won plaudits from artists ranging from David Bowie to Derek Jarman, and ten years on remain one of the few British bands with truly international appeal – their last album spawning number one hits from Peru to Singapore. At its simplest the DVD is a veritable visual greatest hits with all seventeen of their UK singles – including 8 top tens smashes – plus additional rarities from around the world and exclusive footage never seen anywhere before. What’s more, the DVD also includes a brand new Suede song – Simon – the title theme from the forthcoming CS Leigh film, Far From China. One of the strongest features of this release is that, far from simply being a hastily thrown together collection of random videos, we are instead invited to an evening – literally “on the couch” - with Suede commenting on, criticising and joking about their old promo films. It's a rare chance to catch the band at their most relaxed and informal as they talk candidly about their ten years as reluctant Filmstars. It's the closest you'll get to a “Suede Big Brother” fly-on-the-wall docudrama. It's hugely entertaining – and often hilarious. And as well as the standard videos there are alternate takes like the specially filmed version of The Drowners for the U.S., along with exclusive footage compiled by drummer Simon Gilbert from the band's personal archives. The DVD contains more than FOUR HOURS worth of material when the special features are taken into account – and all in glorious 5.1 surround sound. Suede have been described as “the most audacious, androgynous, mysterious, sexy, ironic, absurd, perverse, glamorous, hilarious, honest, cocky, melodramatic, mesmerising band you're ever likely to fall in love with.” Lost In TV shows you why. We will be showing the run of videos with the bands commentary from 8:30pm in AKA. There will be Suede related things to be won in Trash afterwards. check out www.suede.net <http://www.suede.net> AKA Film Club, 8pm-10pm, FREE -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.csie.ntu.edu.tw) ◆ From: 140.123.212.37
