Ex-Westlife crooner Brian McFadden is looking to harness a rockier sound in order to reignite his ailing solo career, and is embracing the help of a Backstreet Boy to do it. McFadden has got wind of the praise blonde pretty boy, Nick Carter, received from Motley Crue uber-cretin, Tommy Lee, after they worked on a song together. Hoping to revive his solo career, which has suffered under the burden of his public ditching of housewife's choice Kerry Katona, and his laboured odes to Aussie girlfriend Delta Goodrem, Brian made an unsolicited phone call to the Backstreet Boy. Nick Carter's spokesperson told the Daily Mirror: "Brian called Nick out of the blue and asked if he could write for him for his next album. Nick doesn't know him personally but he remembered him from Westlife. "They chatted on the phone and got on really well. "Nick liked the idea of working together and they've decided they'll hook up when he's in the UK for the boys' sold-out tour in October." While Carter is famous for being in one of the world's biggest boybands, he has apparently done a great deal of writing for other artists, which tends to be a bit harder and heavier. Heavier than Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)? Jeepers. And Brian has been trying to stifle his boyband roots since going solo, regularly being seen out and about wearing Nirvana (hip new rock band) t-shirts, and even grooming a haircut and facial hair like Kurt Cobain's.
