Paul McCartney To Take Kurt Cobains Place In Nirvana Definitely not a story we ever saw us having to write, but here it is! After singer, guitarist and song writer Kurt Cobain committed suicide 18 years ago and drummer Dave Grohl went on to astronomic success with the Foo Fighters, it seemed that a Nirvana reunion could never happen, but today we were all proved wrong. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and.... Paul McCartney will join forces to play Nirvana material at the upcoming 12.12.12 benefit. McCartney said: "I didn't really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said: 'Whoa? You guys haven't played together for all that time? Somebody whispered to me: 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it." Obviously there couldn't be a better reason for Dave and Krist to come together after 20 years and the group have penned new material for the occasion, it's anyone's guess as to how much old material the group will play. It's assumed that Pat Smear will take guitar duties, with Dave behind the kit and Krist on bass, though there's nothing to stop Dave playing guitar of course. The gig is tonight, so we'll be able to update you tomorrow with everything that happens!
