Won't you descend from the throne from where you sit Let me feel your love one more time, before I abandon it. -- Abandoned Love, Bob Dylan, 1975 == Abandoned Love, "Bitter End" (Other End), 1975/7/3, New York City 這次就不給代碼了，直接從 RS 下載，理由後面會提到： http://rapidshare.de/files/16774858/AbandonedLove.mp3.html http://www.edlis.org/twice/threads/abandoned_love.html (這版本的歌詞) 據 Clinton Heylin 在 Stolen Moments 這本書的考據，Abandoned Love 大約是在 6/29~7/3 這幾天寫的，所以這次提供的版本是Abandoned Love 最原始的樣貌，也是目前唯一已知的現場版。在已知的紀錄中，Dylan 只唱過三次 Abandoned Love，第一次就是這個版本，後面兩次是三個星期以後的 7/31，在哥倫比亞錄音室為了Desire 的錄音而唱，其中第一個 take 收進了 Biograph；值得一提的是，唱完兩次 Abandoned Love 以後，緊接著唱的 Sara 成為正式的 take，被收進Desire 裡，如果我們試著把這兩首歌串在一起聽，或許更能體會七五年 7/31 號當天，Dylan 錄音時的心情。作為 Dylan 樂迷最沒有辦法理解的，就是像 Abandoned Love 這種完全可以取代 Desire任何一首的歌曲、這種延續 Blood on the Tracks裡，精準地詮釋男人對糾纏錯節感情的傑作，為什麼要到十年後的Biograph 才發表？故事要從 Abandoned Love 的背景開始講起。 1966 年 Dylan 摩托車車禍以後，他只在極少數的場合露過面（從 1966 年 6 月到 1973 年底，他總共不過唱了 33 首歌），當時樂迷都以為 Royal Albert Hall 將是 Dylan最後一場的演唱會。沒想到 1974 年初， Dylan 與 The Band 辦了空前轟動的巡迴演唱，短短兩個月內唱了 40 場，賣出的門票如果換算成人數，將占 1974 年美國人口的百分之四。這場巡迴在2/14的洛杉磯結束，也是 Dylan 與老婆 Sara Lowndes 感情正式生變的開始。或許是 Sara 認為 Dylan 在巡迴演唱中冷落了她、或許是傳說中 Dylan 的毒品問題、更或許是長年以來謠傳 Dylan 的affair ，兩人關係出現裂痕的理由，由於 Dylan 對私人消息向來低調的緣故，我們已經無法得知。無論如何，即使 Dylan 返回加州 Malibu的家中與 Sara 團聚，試著挽回感情，他的努力並沒有成功，兩人不久就分居了；七四年四月底， Dylan 獨自到紐約與Norman Raeben學了兩個月的畫，又在Minnesota買了座農場，把五個小孩接來團聚，並譜寫 Blood on the Tracks裡的大多數歌曲；如果要問 BotT 裡陰沈抑鬱從何而來，理由應該就在婚姻的困境吧。之後兩人分分合合，最終在 1977 年離婚，Dylan 對挽回婚姻的努力，可以從六六年鑲嵌著 Sara 名字的 Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands 裡「Your Spanish manners and your mother's drugs, And your cowboy mouth and your curfew plugs, Who among them do you think could resist you? 」到 Abandoned Love 裡唱著「Won't you descend from the throne from where you sit.
