Damon Albarn's group have signed a staggering ￡1million-plus deal to close the festival's main stage on Saturday, July 11. Damon will join Alex James, Dave Rowntree and Graham Coxon for the trip to Scotland, which will see them play in front of a sell-out festival crowd of up to 85,000. It marks a return to T in the Park for the band who played in the King Tut's tent at the very first festival, when it was held at Strathclyde Park in 1994. They last played the festival in 1999. The Parklife group are the latest big-name act to sign up for the three-day Balado gig, having reformed towards the end of 2008. Last night, T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis admitted he was thrilled to bring Blur back to Balado. He said: "It's great to have such an influential British band. When we heard there was a chance of them reforming, we were sniffing about because it was something we wanted to be part of. "They are iconic and legends. They are one of those bands you talk about in the same breath as The Jam and The Smiths. "They perfected pop music from an indie-guitar perspective. I never thought they would reform. They had all gone off to do their own things and when people go on different paths, you don't tend to see them get together again. "We pushed the boat out. That's what T in the Park is about. It is not, we are selling tickets anyway, who should we put on? The heavyweight acts help to make it special. "It is great to have a British act headlining the event and one that has been away for a long time." Already, the Razz has revealed Kings Of Leon, Katy Perry and Snow Patrol are to play this summer's T in the Park, featuring alongside more than 120 other acts. This news comes just months after Blur announced they planned to reform for a show at London's Hyde Park on July 2, their first date together since 2000. All 50,000 tickets sold in just two minutes of going on sale, forcing them to add a second date. Geoff said: "They pick and choose what events they do, so it is great that they wanted to come and play T in the Park when they could have played more of their own shows. They must feel very positively about the event." Fans who have bought tickets for T can expect a barrage of classic Blur hits from their seven studio albums as well as new material. Geoff added: "There is a depth to Blur that will make their show great.
