London Premiere of Far From China
Far From China, CS Leigh's film featuring the Suede song
Simon and incidental music by Suede, Neil Codling and
Saul Freeman has its London Premiere at 8 pm on Sunday
18th November at the Royal Court Theatre, Sloane Square,
London SW1.
Far From China is a cubist construction which in its
fragmentation offers a portrait of Nana, a young novelist
with a haunted past. She is the daughter of a famed
Vietnam-era radical whose public suicide is legend, and
whose life is very much at a crossroads.
At a time when it is so much in the headlines Far From China
attempts to address the issue of American Imperialism in
relation to the way that a country wages its wars. It does
this by looking at the net results of its actions on future
generations on both sides of the divide.
Far From China uses a multi-screen format (four images on
screen together most of the time) to tell a story which can
perhaps only be told in pieces, like the shards of a
shattered mirror before which Nana stands to examine her
broken life.
Suede.net have five pairs of tickets to give away to whoever
best completes the following sentence: "I'd like to go to the
London premiere of Far From China because........" Email your
your answers to meoldchina@interceptor.co.uk no later than
Sunday, November 11th.
