Thom想藉著這首歌表達他對大眾速食文化(這個詞可能用的不好, 請別戰我XD) 和對人類想要以自己的渺小能力對自然做出的不合理的改變的不滿, 這會讓我們忘了很多自身為人的獨特性. 第一段歌詞提到了充斥於我們周遭的各種物品, 其創造目的只是為了滿足我們的一些不夠合理的目的 ,有如那株plastic tree是為了滿足我們不想看到的樹的凋零, 而這個fake plastic earth還有很多東西就如同那株樹一般. 第二段提到了(Breast) Surgery for "grils at their 80s", But gravity always wins. 寫出了人曾經擁有的可能不再, 即便是有再進步的科技, 還是有其極限. 第三段提到了他自己的愛情, (在他眼裡)他的對象是"like a real thing", 隱喻了她的不真實性. 因為這段愛情只是段"Fake plastic love". 最後寫到他的心中其實存在的不能接受這段愛情的矛盾, 讓他想要轉身而逃, 因為(在他心中)這不是真的, 這不是自然的... 人類可以改變很多事情, 但往往只是改變他的樣子, 而不是本質. ps. 前幾篇提到的搞笑版Rodeohead中也有收到這首歌,不同的是他把"My fake plastic love"改成了"My fake plastic girl"......"充氣娃娃"!?...XD -- "It's the best thing that you ever have."
