Jaeger-LeCoultre Singapore Introduces its Marina Bay Sands Boutique and
Appoints Singer Kit Chan as the Local Ambassador
Opened since mid-September 2010, Jaeger-LeCoultre Singapore took the
opportunity to introduce their second Singapore boutique at the Marina Bay
Sands to the Media and announces the appointment of famous local Singer Kit
Chan as their local Ambassador.
According to the Jaeger-LeCoultre press release, "Kit Chan is widely regarded
as a trailblazer and an icon in the pop music and arts scene in Singapore".
She was one of the first Singaporean pop artistes to make a successful break
into the regional Chinese pop scene in 1994. With more than 20 albums under
her belt, she also starred in hit musicals in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and
opened the Esplanade in 2002 playing the formidable Empress Cixi in Forbidden
City: A Portrait of an Empress. Kit has received many notable awards is much
loved for her renditions of National Day theme songs such as the iconic “Home
” in 1998, and “There’s No Place I’d Rather Be” in 2007. She is the only
singer who has performed four times (1998, 2004, 2007 and 2010) at the finale
of the National Day Parade, the most coveted spot in this annual national
event.
Kit was involved in various youth development programs and served on the
Resource Panel for the Ministry of Communications and the Arts Government
Parliamentary Committee as well as sat on the National Heritage Board from
2007 to 2009.
Kit has most recently performed the commissioned theme song “One World” at
the APEC 2009 Gala Night before world leaders, and returned to the musical
stage in a starring role in August 2010 in “December Rains” at The
Esplanade Grand Theatre. Kit is also an accomplished actress, with a
television acting debut in 2000 in Hong Kong TVB’s “Healing Hands II” as
well as a second drama “Cash is King”, a collaboration between Hong Kong’s
ATV station and Singapore Channel U. Most recently, she starred in "Lover's
Discourse", a film recently screened at the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival
2010 starring actors like Eason Chan, Kay Tse, Karena Lam and Mavis Fan. Kit
is also a published author and poet.
Announcing the appointment of Kit Chan as the brand's Singapore Ambassador,
Jaeger-LeCoultre South East Asia Managing Director Alexis de Laporte said “
We are excited to welcome Kit as our new brand ambassador in Singapore".
"It was a natural choice for us as Kit represents the type of woman that we
feel is able to demonstrate the Jaeger-LeCoultre spirit" continues Mr. Alexis
De Laporte. "She is a multi-talented and accomplished artist in the fields of
music, acting and community development work. Upon meeting her, I found her
to be very personable and extremely dedicated to her craft. Like
Jaeger-LeCoultre, although we possess a long heritage and technical know-how
of fine watch-making, we are constantly striving to better ourselves and
armed with an innovative spirit, this enabled us to produce innovative
break-throughs such as the Master Compressor Extreme Lab 1, the
Gyrotourbillon 1 and Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2, and the Hybris Mechanica a
Grande Sonnerie etc. Moving forward, I am sure that Kit will contribute to
revealing Jaeger-LeCoultre’s unique expertise on her wrists”.
The press event ended with an unforgettable lunch at the new Imperial
Treasure Marina Bay Sands restaurant, where the food is exceptional and the
mood was jovial. Like any event organised by the great Jaeger-LeCoultre team
led by Alexis de Laporte and organised by Garina and Alethea Tan, being
pampered and happy at the same time is the only possible outcome.
