Filming has begun on "You Don't Know Jack," a movie about the life of
Michigan physician and assisted-suicide activist Jack Kevorkian,
The movie isn't being filmed in Michigan (did the producers not hear about
all our sweet tax breaks?) although much of the action likely takes place
here. But passersby on Staten Island, where the film was shooting earlier
this week, got a photo of Pacino dressed up as the famed "Dr. Death."
According to the Staten Island Advance, the crew was filming a protest scene
there on Wednesday.
SILive.com, Sept. 9: An older man, wearing a packer hat, grey slacks and
a beige raincoat, walked down the stairs of 1174 Bay St. in Rosebank earlier
today and was swarmed by an angry mob of people who chanted and screamed as
he got into his car.
About 50 protesters, some carrying signs like "Jail Jack" and "Death to
Kevorkian" were pounding on the man's grey Chrysler LeBaron, rocking it back
and fourth as if to flip it over.
That "older man" was Pacino, looking like a spitting image of Kevorkian.
"You Don't Know Jack," which is being prodced by HBO, also stars Susan
Sarandon and John Goodman.
It's based on a biography of the doctor by Neal Nicol called "Between the
Dying and the Dead."
Pacino likely had to learn a lot about Kevorkian to play this role, but as
reported a couple of weeks ago by Fox 2 News, Kevorkian seems not to know
very much about the actor.
