Brown's attorney said Tuesday a Brockton District Court clerk magistrate found no probable cause to issue a criminal complaint, but recommended that Brown volunteer to mentor young people, which Brown wanted to do anyway. Brown agreed to a year's community service and his attorney said if no other issues arise over the next year, the matter will be struck from the docket. The case began when police responding to a disturbance at a Brockton hotel on Dec. 1. They said they found the 39-year-old Brown sitting in a sports utility vehicle in the parking lot, with cocaine in his possession. His attorney Stephanie Soriano told the Herald that no criminal charges would be issued. "Mr Brown will be accepting the recommendation of the court," she said. Brown is to work with children and young adults in the city of Brockton outside Boston, where poverty and crime are rampant. >.< But Brockton city councilor Timothy Cruise told the Herald it might not be such a good idea. "I dont know a lot about Bobby Brown, but what I've seen makes me think we don't need him working with the kids," Cruise was quoted as saying. The 39-year-old singer, songwriter and dancer has been charged in the past with nonpayment of child support, kicking a hotel security guard, drug and alcohol abuse and allegedly physically abusing Houston. State police wanted Brown to be charged with cocaine possession, but Brockton District Court Clerk Magistrate Kevin Creedon thought otherwise and proposed the community service.
