Savage Garden Split
Savage Garden Split
There must be something in the water. First Five,
then Elastica and now Aussie duo Savage Garden
have called it a day.
Instrumentalist Daniel Jones said he was
disappointed to learn of the break-up in a newspaper,
as singer Darren Hayes announced the band was over
before consulting him. Despite the fact that Daniel
still lives in Australia while Darren relocated to
the US several years ago, Daniel admitted he didn't
see understand why the band had to split. "I have
always looked at a band like the Eurythmics who have
had separate careers within a band and we thought we
could go along similar lines to that."
"We achieved something so great in a short period of
time that we had to look for something else," he
continued. "We've both had a lot of success together.
We'll probably have a lot of success independently
in the future."
As expected, frontman Darren is planning to continue
with his solo album, tentatively titled 'Spin', while
Daniel will pursue other musical avenues. The pair
were best known for their worldwide hit 'Truly Madly
Deeply' which topped the US Billboard chart.
