Renee: In Katy, outside of Houston. James: Katy? Renee: Yeah. Little, little, small, small town - farming community. Not anymore. I hear it旧 been annexed into Houston now. James: Where does the name Katy come from? Renee: Katy was a stop on the MKT Railroad, and apparently, the engineer decided to settle there and named his daughter after the MKT, Katy, and then the town was named after her, consequently. James: While on the subject of names, what is the origin of the name Zellweger? Renee: My father旧 from Switzerland. James: What旧 your dad旧 profession? Renee: He旧 an engineer, a retired engineer - mechanical, electrical. He 旧 a brilliant man贬e旧 so clever. There旧 nothing that he can急 do. James: And what about your mother? Her name? Renee: My mom旧 name is Kjellfried, and I観 not kidding贰nd, uh, she旧 from the very, very north of Norway. James: And her profession? Renee: She was a midwife and a nurse until she came to the United States to be a governess for a Norwegian family in Houston. James: What was a Katy childhood like? Renee: Idyllic. James: Really? Renee: Yeah, it was. Um, really healthy, you know. Um, families, a lot of family, um, interaction, uh, outside a lot. I was alone a lot, you know, outside, playing in the ditch. James: Wait a minute. What do you mean, you were alone a lot? Renee: I was alone a lot. Um, after... James: By choice? Renee: Yeah, I guess so, I don急 know. Um, playing outside and uh, you know, going for long walks, um, in the fields, building,uh, forts with, youknow, uh, whatever construction stuff we would 対ind? We didn急 consider it stealing in those days. Um, look what we "found"! James: What happened in the ditch? Renee: If it was flooding, there was much great swimming going on and there was a lot of crawdadding, you know, we渇 go crawdad fishing. James: Did you have any siblings? Renee: Yeah, big brother Drew. James: Did you two get along? Renee: Oh no, absolutely not. Pummels, he pummelled me every week and I渇 take the beating of my life, um, but now we虐e best friends. He 旧 the greatest, greatest guy. I wanted to be just like him, you know. I followed him everywhere.
