Noel Gallagher offers to write World Cup anthem
OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER has offered to write an Irish World Cup
song - but wants a cool $650,000 for his efforts.
The WONDERWALL hitmaker, whose parents are from Ireland, laughed at
the idea he would pen one for England. He says, "If we do anything at
all, it will be for the Republic of Ireland. If anyone from the
Football Association of Ireland is listening - half a million will do
it. "
FAI spokesman BRENDAN MCKENNA says, "I suppose we should be flattered
that the Gallagher brothers support our national team. But
unfortunately $650,000 is way beyond our budget."
Back in 1990 U2 drummer LARRY MULLEN wrote and released the OLE OLE
OLE song - for free. (originally reported Oct 12th)
