Q: Criticism of the band has remained remarkably consistent over the years.
Mainly that you don't change.
Liam: It hurts when people say that we should change or we're boring.
It hurts. I don't understand it. Well, I know we've been around for 15
years and it's no longer an exciting thing but I think we'e still
exciting. When we play we're having it. There's a buzz.

The 20 Greatest Oasis Tracks
8 Slide Away Chosen by: Nicky Wire, Manic Street Preachers
There's a bruised melancholia to Slide Away. For me, it's the dark sister to
Live Forever, which is all optimism and euphoria. There's that massive Oasis
sound, but an underlying sadness, which really got to me when it came out.
It was the same week as The Holy Bible, when we were at our most insular
and inward. That sadness was a bit strange seeing as the rest of the album is
so full of optimism and power. We toured America with them in 1996. They were
playing arenas and it was their moment, but Liam seemed full of working-class
anger. It's one of my theories that there's a certain working-class rage that
cannot cannot be controlled. You can trace it from Mark E Smith and John Lyton
to Ian McCulloch and Morrissey to Liam Gallagher and, of course, me.
That ability to be totally in love with your art, but also to realise the
stupidity and hypocrisy of the situation. I think it's a good thing.
It keeps everything in check.
[Definitely Maybe]
Mark E Smith,性手槍的主唱 John Lyton,或者 Echo & the Bunnymen 的主唱
Liam Gallagher,
