It had been thought the Gallagher brothers had snubbed their home city after confirming their long-awaited British tour - without a date here. And with the first night of the 18 dates scheduled to take place in Liverpool, it appeared as if salt had been rubbed in the wound. In 2005, Oasis - fronted by City fans Liam and Noel - played three sell-out nights at the City of Manchester Stadium. In 2006, Noel returned to perform in fan Ben Hayes' front room, in Poynton, as part of a competition run by BBC Radio 1. Ben, 23, who now lives in Didsbury, has already seen the band play 11 times.
