Gallagher: 'British bands steal our sound!'
Tuesday 7th November
Rocker Noel Gallagher has slammed the current crop of British
guitar bands for their lack of original talent - and claims
they're simply riding on the success of Oasis' critically
acclaimed 1994 debut album, Definately Maybe.
The rockstar whose hits include Live Forever blasts bands like
The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks and Razorlight for
mimicking Oasis' sound.
He says, "If I see one more advert on the TV for an album that
says 'Best guitar album since Definitely Maybe' I'll shoot
whoever writes those f**king things.
"It's flattering that it's still considered the benchmark, and
that The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight and all said it
was the album for them, but come on.
"I think a lot of these bands are just copying the blueprint.
"You're always looking at Johnny Borrell ( lead singer of
Razorlight) or him out of The Kooks (Luke Pritchard) and going
'I dunno if you mean it man'. When you see those bands, there's
something not quite right."

GALLAGHER: 'ARCTIC MONKEYS ARE GRUMPY OLD MEN'
OASIS rocker NOEL GALLAGHER has dismissed rising British band
ARCTIC MONKEYS as "a bunch of grumpy old men". In a scathing
attack on the young four-piece, Gallagher slammed their trademark
'real-life' lyrics and fears their success is going to inspire
scores of copycat bands. He says, "Their public persona is now
of a bunch of grumpy old men. I'm worried about what's going to
follow in their wake. "It's gonna be c**ts with guitars going:
'And me mum works down the f**king chip shop, she met a geezer'
and all that. "Great pop music is not about real life, it's about
how great life can be. Real life's s**t." Despite Gallagher's
description of the band as "old", the Arctic Monkeys range in age
from 20 to 21.
