Kasabian play festival warm-up show
Noel Gallagher is there to see the band get ready for V Festival
Kasabian played a special warm-up show ahead of their V Festival
appearance in London last night (August 15).
Arriving onstage at Brixton Academy to the theme from A Clockwork
Orange, the Leicester band tore through a 75-minute set including
eight songs from forthcoming album 'Empire', plus fan favourites
'Club Foot', 'Cutt Off', 'L.S.F.' and 'Reason Is Treason' from their
2004 debut.
Singer Tom Meighan, who was sporting a red sweater, was in high
spirits following the band's recent performance at Ibiza Rocks,
declaring early on: "We have just got back from Ibiza and we only
just fucking survived."
The band later dedicated new track 'The Last Trip' to Noel Gallagher,
who was watching the gig from the wings.
Closing the set with new track 'The Doberman', the band had extra
support, using a live trumpet player for the first time. The five-piece
returned for a hit-laiden encore, ending the show with hit 'L.S.F'.
The song's catchy refrain was then chanted by fans for at least
half-an-hour as they made their way out of the venue.
Kasabian played:
'Shoot The Runner'
'Reason Is Treason'
'Sunrise/Light/Flies'
'Empire'
'Cutt Off'
'Me Plus One'
'By My Side'
'The Last Trip'
'Butcher Blues'
'Processed Beats'
'The Doberman'
'Club Foot'
'Stuntman'
'L.S.F.'
The band are now set to headline the second stage at the V Festival
in Chelmsford and Staffordshire this weekend (August 19 and 20). They
will then play NME.COM's tenth birthday party at London's KOKO on
September 12.
