Mick Mars的訪談~
as title....

When the band Motley Crue is mentioned, I'm sure the name Tommy, Vince, or
Nikki comes to mind. But, when I think of the Crue, I think of a particular
sound that comes from a crunchy in your face guitar with a perfect blend of
distortion. That sound has been coming from guitarist Mick Mars who has been
the backbone of the group since it's inception in 1981. Mick has seen and
done it all. He still plays with the same enthusiasm he did years ago, maybe
even more so today. As Mick and the guys just got done wrapping up their
first stint of Cruefest, they are getting prepared for a European tour.
Nonetheless, he still took some time to answer some questions we had
regarding this summers past tour and all things Motley Crue. Let's see what
this Muthafu*ker of the Year had to say…
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gus: You have been touring and recording almost non-stop since the
reformation of Motley Crue in 2004. How are you feeling?
Mick: I FEEL REALLY GOOD.
Gus: What was the difference in the recording process in "Saints of Los
Angeles" since the last studio effort with the original band "Generation
Swine?"
Mick: THIS RECORD CAME TOGETHER MUCH MORE QUICKLY AND GIVEN THE TECHNOLOGY IS
SO MUCH MORE ADVANCED NOW THAN LAST TIME, THE PROCESS IS MUCH DIFFERENT. WE
ARE ABLE TO RECORD IN SMALLER SPACES AND WITH LESS PERIPHERAL EQUIPMENT.
Gus: James Michael from Sixx AM had a lot of input and co-wrote a lot of the
songs on "Saints of Los Angeles." Why did the band decide to have him help
with the writing and recording process?
Mick: JAMES IS A VERY GIFTED WRITER, ENGINEER AND PRODUCER. HE UNDERSTANDS
THE MUSIC MOTLEY MAKES BUT LETS US BE WHO WE ARE. A LOT OF PRODUCERS TRY TO
INJECT THEIR OWN CONCEPT OF THE BAND INTO THE BAND ITSELF. JAMES IS VERY GOOD
AT JUST ENHANCING ALL THE GOOD THINGS THAT MAKE MOTLEY CRUE.
Gus: On September 30, 2008 the band is re-issuing the entire studio CD
catalog. Why is the band now deciding to re-master and re-issue their past
recordings?
Mick: WE'VE DONE IT BEFORE ON CD, BUT THIS TIME WE'RE ALSO REISSUING THE
CATALOG ON VINYL. THAT’S REALLY EXCITING FOR US BECAUSE THAT'S THE FORMAT
THE BAND STARTED WITH. AS PEOPLE DOWNLOAD MORE AND MORE MUSIC, THEY ARE
MOVING TOWARD VINYL BECAUSE ITS SOMETHING YOU CAN HOLD. IT HAS ARTWORK YOU
CAN TAKE OUT OF THE SLEEVE AND LOOK AT AND FEEL. I THINK PEOPLE STILL WANT TO
HAVE SOMETHING TANGIBLE WITH THEIR MUSIC.
Gus: When fans are seeing you play live or in a video for the most part you
are always playing a white or black Fender Stratocaster. You can see that
both of these guitars have a lot of wear and tear. What do these guitars have
that the others in your collection don't?
Mick: I CAN'T TELL. IT'S A SECRET.
Gus: Mick, you have been also writing and contributing to other projects such
as Machina and DMC to name a few. Who else have you contributed your talents
to?
Mick: I PLAYED ON THE NEW PAPA ROACH RECORD.
Gus: Will there be a possibility of any solo material from you in the future
as you are the only member to not explore this area?
Mick: I'D LIKE TO DO A TRADITIONAL BLUES ALBUM. THE BLUES ARE MY ROOTS AND
I'D LIKE TO EXPLORE THAT ON A FULL RECORD.
Gus: Who were your main influences growing up?
Mick: I GREW UP ON BLUES. MIKE BLOOMFIELD IS PROBABLY MY FAVORITE GUITAR
PLAYER. MIKE BLOOMFIELD AND JIMI HENDRIX.
Gus: Now that the first Cruefest is complete, will there be another Cruefest?
Mick: THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE ANOTHER CRUE FEST. WE’RE JUST GETTING
STARTED.
Gus: You have been battling Ankylosing Spondylitis for most of your adult
life (For our readers who don't know what it is, Ankylosing Spondylitis
causes inflammation of the ligaments and tendons that connect the vertebrae
in the spine.) Do you have any inspiring words for the people who also suffer
from this muscle inflammatory arthritis?
Mick: I HAVE HAD MY UPS AND DOWNS WITH THE CONDITION, BUT THE MAIN THING IS
THAT I HAVE A GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE EVEN THOUGH I'M AFFLICTED WITH AS.
Gus: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us today at Glam-Metal.com.
Mick: Thank you!

影響他很大的吉他手是Mike Bloomfield和Jimi Hendrix。
他的啟蒙是藍調。
