Paul Oakenfold launches artist career with Madonna's Maverick

Paul Oakenfold has signed a North American deal with the Maverick
Recording
Co., the label founded by Madonna.Oakenfold's first release for the
company
will be his debut album as a solo artist, scheduled for early next
year.
Says Madonna: "Paul's instinct and talent are undeniable. I couldn't be
happier having him join the Maverick family. He's a perfect fit". The
new
deal further cements Oakenfold's working relationship with Madonna - he
also
remixed her recent single, What It Feels Like For A Girl.
Mushroom Records will release Oakenfold's as-yet-untitled album
throughout
the rest of the world. Oakenfold's emergence as an artist follows a
year of
enormous success, particularly in America where he was responsible for
the
soundtrack to John Travolta's number one box-office movie, Swordfish,
as
well as a remix of the theme to director Tim Burton's Planet of the
Apes.
Oakenfold was also the headline DJ on Moby's Area:One festival tour of
North
America.
Guy Oseary, co-partner and CEO of Maverick, says: "We're excited to be
working with Paul. As a DJ, he's the best at what he does and we're
anxious
to help him reach the widest audience possible as an electronic artist.
"We don't have a lot of electronic records, just the biggest ones. We
don't
sign five DJs, just the biggest one - and that's Paul Oakenfold."
