The inaugural Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards took place at the Forum
in Kentish Town, North London last night (June 3) with Marilyn Manson,
The Darkness and Lemmy all receiving statuettes.
Hosted by Xfm’s very own lord of rock, Ian Camfield, the first Golden Gods
Awards witnessed performances by The Murderdolls, Raging Speedhorn,
Shadow’s Fall and Soil and a host of celebrities from all corners of the wide,
wide world of metal.
Guests including A, Seraphin, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones,
The Donnas, Gary Bloody Numan, saw awards go to Cradle Of Filth (Best Video)
Inme (Best UK Act) and The Murderdolls (Best Newcomer) to name but a few.
However, the evening belonged to Marilyn Manson who, escorted by a phalanx
of rubber clad porn actresses, won the Best Frontman Award,
and Motorhead’s legendary singer Lemmy who received a surprise award named,
appropriately enough, The Spirit Of Hammer Award.
