Mariah Steals The Show At "Black Girls Rock"
She may have been attending an awards show among a slew of younger pretenders.
But at the age of 43, Mariah Carey still managed to out-dazzle them all in a
stunning black crop top and long black and gold patterned skirt as she
stepped out at a BET awards bash on Saturday night.
Coordinating with her stunning look, Mariah styled her voluminous honey locks
into bouncy waves and sported a pair of dangling gold earrings as she spoke
onstage at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
She also emphasized her big brown eyes with dramatic make-up, which was
complimented with a nude pout.
Despite being one of the world's biggest megastars, Mariah will forever be in
awe of renowned Grammy winner LaBelle.
'Still backstage waiting... Hey..I would wait forever for the incredible
Patti LaBelle #BlackGirlsRock,' the mother-of-two tweeted, as she bared her
toned midriff in a snapshot taken behind-the-scenes of BET's Black Girls Rock
show in Newark.
Once she arrived on stage, Mariah certainly appeared to be relishing every
second she had alongside the legendary 69-year-old soul artist.
The two were seen sharing a hearty laugh, and the wife of Nick Cannon
honoured Patti with the Living Legend gong.
Contrasting with the One Sweet Day songstress, Patti was clad in an
embroidered silver jacket over a grey blouse and matching trousers, which
were spruced up with a pair of neon yellow pumps.
The event was held to honour powerful black women in the entertainment
industry and beyond, hence the title 'Black Girls Rock.'
Also at the star-studded ceremony was Queen Latifah, who was awarded the Rock
Star award, as well as Jennifer Hudson, Michelle Williams, La La Anthony,
Venus Williams and rapper Eve.
Meanwhile, Mariah recently announced the release of a new single The Art Of
Letting Go on November 11.
As a songwriter, I never like to be too totally specific, because I like
people to be able to make it about their own life experiences,' she told CNN.
'(But) there is an art to learning how to let go of things in your life,
people in your life, things that are not good for you. Whatever the case may
be.
'There's an emotion to it, as you listen to the song start to finish, that
you can tell that it's me if it's anybody that's ever met me or been
listening to music over however long,' she added of the song. 'I was two when
I started!'
