Born in Hawaii but raised in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, 25-year -old Fong crosses genres, mixing old-school soul with Asian-inspired melodies. From an early age, Fong showed a passion for music and was schooled in the old- soul sound of Stevie Wonder, Jackie Wilson and Marvin Gaye. Growing up, he found inspiration from such music greats as Brian McKnight, R Kelly, and John Mayer. Determined to break into the music biz, at 16 the go-getting musician started sending out his demos to music producers. His persistence paid off four years later when he was signed by a Hong Kong producer. His 2005 debut album Soul Boy was met with critical and commercial success, winning multiple awards around the region. His follow-up albums – This Love (2006) and Wonderland (2007) – produced a string of hit singles, including ‘Love Love Love’ and ‘Love Song,’ both of which have become oft-played staples on the radio and in karaoke lounges.
