Jeweller Cartier took over the venue to unveil its latest promo campaign for the Love Collection of bracelets, bangles and accessories. Twelve music artists from around the world were commissioned to write a song based on the theme ”How far would you go for love?”. Along with the likes of Lou Reed and Ryuichi Sakamoto, the local representative is Canto-pop songwriter Khalil Fong, whose balled is called <Love in this world>. As sappy love songs go, it’s a good one. Fong performed the tune solo at the event with an acoustic guitar as the women swooned and fell silent. Not bad for a romantic at heart who proclaims himself to be boring. “I would go very, very far, as far as it goes I guess for love,” Fong professed. “Love is not something that you can put in a box. Like Yoda (from Star Wars) says, ‘it surrounds us and binds us together’. It is like a seed. You have to plant it, nurture it, to make it a glorious tree.” Sorry dude, you just went from Romeo to geek by quoting a Jedi, even if you’re not just singing about romantic love (the song also talks about aiding a stranger). “The love I want to express is universal.
