(去吧, 關燈做你自己!) http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/entertainmentfeatures/view/1184279/1/.html HONG KONG: Singapore singer Kit Chan has had a busy start to 2012, playing to some 16,000 fans at her two massive gigs in Hong Kong last week. The concerts saw Chan perform with her old friends, singer William So and songwriter Chiu Tsang Hei, as well as with a new one, veteran singer George Lam. "I never thought I'd work with him (Lam) in my life! "He had been singing since maybe even before I was born, and one of my deepest impressions of him was the Guinness Stout ad that he did, that used to air in Singapore," gushed Chan over the phone from Hong Kong. "We actually had really good chemistry. "We got along very well. He is also actually quite an English-speaking type. They call him a Gwai Lo (Cantonese slang for "foreigner") who is a Chinese, [he is] very, very Westernised," added the singer. Unfortunately for her fans, Chan said her Hong Kong concert is also her last major engagement of the year – she has no plans to hold a concert or release an album this year. Instead, the singer revealed that she intends to go on a long break to re-energise herself. "I have been working really hard, straight through the last two years. "I think it is something I'm proud of, but at the same time I am horrified that within the last 365 days, I actually did three completely different concerts," said Chan, her voice heavy with fatigue. The past months have been very busy ones for Chan indeed – she had performed sold-out concerts with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra in February last year, held her solo Singapore concert The Music Room in October, then held her large-scale performances in Hong Kong recently. But the next few will be different. "I am working at taking a nice long break," said Chan, who now releases her music under her own indie music label Banshee Empire. "That is one of the nice things about being your own boss; you can just kind of have a vacuum in your head." "If you are in a contract [with a music label], very often you kind of live your life according to whatever they have planned for you." Although 2012 will largely be a year of rest for the diva, Chan expressed that she would still consider holding small-scale showcases to stay in touch with her fans in Singapore. "I think in a way, in Singapore, it is easier for me to meet my fans or to perform for them," said Chan. "Even if I don't do fully fledged stuff, I could always do little things here and there." -CNA/ha -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.64.106.22
