By Joanne Chan | Posted: 14 December 2010 2125 hrs SINGAPORE : Thirty-nine Singapore musicians from different generations and music genres have collaborated on a music video for next year's Total Defence campaign. Reinventing the well-loved song "Home", the project aims to rally Singaporeans together as a nation in times of crisis or celebration. Its familiar tune is probably the most prominent National Day song and known by most Singaporeans. Hoping to draw on such sentiments, the music video is the anchor project of next year's Total Defence campaign. Backed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the video features familiar faces through the ages such as 70s Malay rock legend Ramli Sarip and current popular Chinese songbird Joi Chua. The video aims to engage Singaporeans and remind them that home is a place worth defending. Kit Chan, executive producer, "Home", said: "When the public hears the song or watches the video, they will start thinking of the meaning of home to them. And I think everyone has a different take on that. It could literally be the roof over your head, it could be your family and friends." During the filming of the video, the artistes were visited by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, who wanted to thank them for volunteering their time. Mr Teo said: "I hope Singaporeans will also take ownership of the song "Home". It's also one of my favourite songs, and it will help them to feel a part of Singapore and in their own way express themselves ... about what they can do to help make Singapore home." Making the music video was no mean feat. With so many artistes involved, one challenge was managing the schedules to fit into the filming. Producers also had to merge the different singing styles and vocals into one song. The video will be launched on February 15 next year. The public will also be invited to make their own "home" video to tell others what home means to them. - CNA/al -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.64.106.22
