8 KIT CHAN SINGS HOME
The singer-actress first sang the song, penned by Dick Lee, at the 1998
National Day Parade. So, it was full circle for her as she returned to the
parade yesterday at 8.06pm to sing Home, arguably the most well-received NDP
song.
"It felt fantastic and nostalgic and, at the same time, rejuvenating. I've
often been told by people, both friends and strangers, that this is their
favourite NDP song," she told my paper.
A montage of images comes to her mind whenever she sings the song. It could
be " a certain feeling from childhood", or "seeing the Singapore River as I
remember it before the big cleanup", she explained.
"Or it could be the warmth of coming home whenever I'm back from a trip
abroad."
