Lake comes to town in September, local chanteuse Kit Chan (right) will not be in it. Kit has been playing the second female lead character of Phoenix since it debuted in Hong Kong in 1997. She's just completed the China leg of the Mandarin version of Snow. Wolf. Lake's world tour. But the 33-year-old's contract with the musical ended in May, and though the world tour is slated to continue till next year, Kit is leaving the production. Kit told The New Paper: 'I was supposed to go on a hiatus last August, but I've had to postpone it for a year! If I carry on with Snow. Wolf. Lake, then the work will be never-ending. 'I've been planning this break since 2001 as I knew that my recording contract was going to end in 2004. I've been busy for more than a decade and don't want to postpone it anymore.' Kit's producer and co-star Jacky Cheung, who plays the lead, Wolf, were upset with her decision, but have since accepted it. The cast and crew threw a farewell party for Kit after their last show in China last Friday. 'Jacky gave a speech, saying how I was like his comrade in war, and now I'm leaving him halfway,' she said, laughing. The Hong Kong singer threw a separate pyjama party for Kit in his hotel suite and gave her a going-away present of a purple crystal pendant - because Kit, like her character, likes the colour purple. Kit had initially agreed to stay for the Singapore and Shanghai performances. But the producers found a replacement for Kit's role in Nnadia Chan, who was also involved in the production a few years ago. Kit said: 'It's nobody's fault. Please let me apologise to Singaporeans who thought I was going to be in the Singapore leg of Snow. Wolf. Lake. If I happen to be in Singapore at that time, I will definitely go and see it.' She will fly to Boston this month, to join her bank executive boyfriend who's there. Besides taking French lessons, Kit doesn't have other concrete plans. 'It's nice not to have to work and just live. I would like to be bored for once.' - Wendy Teo SHOW INFO WHAT: Snow. Wolf.
