Then there’s her music—after 7 years of record-breaking tracks and global stardom, JESSICA branched out on her own, released her first EP, and has no plans of slowing down—in fact, word is (from JESSICA herself), there’s a second album on its way soon. I am a daughter, sister, friend, singer, actress, designer, curious, ambitious, always excited! Q：談談你自己吧 A：我是爸爸媽媽的女兒，是妹妹的姐姐，是朋友們的朋友，是歌手，是演員，是設計師，是一個有著好奇心，有著雄心壯志，永遠充滿能量的人。 ----- So many know you from your time with Girls’ Generation, but now you’re branching out into retail with your brand, BLANC & ECLARE. How did you decide to make this kind of transition and how has it been so far? Unexpectedly, and in a way that was a bit out of my control, I found myself with the time and ability to focus 100% on developing my brand soon after launching. So in 2014, I delved head first into learning everything about designing eyewear, which is where we started. We’ve added categories since then (RTW, cosmetics, accessories) and I picked up a few projects too, including my first solo album and a few acting projects. It’s been a wild few years so the transition has been crazy but exciting the whole way. Q：許多人是通過少女時代時期知道你的，但是現在你在發展自己的個人品牌BLANC&ECLARE 。你是怎樣下決心做這種轉變的？品牌現在發展的怎麼樣？ A：出乎意料的，一定程度上可以說是有些超出我掌控的，我在品牌誕生後不久就找到了屬於自己的位置，也能100%集中精力去發展我的個人品牌。所以在2014年，我開始學習有關於墨鏡設計的一切，那是我品牌最先開始的地方。在那之後我們還增加了其他品類（成衣，化妝品，其他配件），我也重拾了老本行，發表了我的第一張個人專輯和也參與了一些演出。中間有幾年的空白期所以這個轉變轉換起來很讓人抓狂，但是整個過程很令人興奮。 ---- How are you balancing your solo career with your new fashion and beauty endeavor? With a lot of caffeine! It’s just like anyone else juggling a million responsibilities—I make the right commitments, set priorities, get the right support and try to squeeze the most hours out of every day! Q：你是如何平衡你的個人歌唱事業與時尚美妝事業的呢？ A：打雞血！就像任何一個肩負重任的其他人一樣——我要做出正確的承諾，安排事情的優先順序，獲取正確的支援，就需要每天都擠出盡可能多的時間來。 --- What are your favorite hobbies or pastimes when you’re not working on everything you’ve got on your plate? I love to eat with my friends and family on my down time. Trying different foods, checking out new restaurants, revisiting favorite cafes and bars—that’ s how I catch up and reenergize. Q：你的愛好是什麼？又或者說當你不工作的時候，要做些什麼來消遣時間呢？ A：在休息的時間我喜歡和我的朋友們和家人一起吃飯。嘗試不同的美食，嘗試新的餐廳，去我最喜歡的咖啡館和酒吧——通過這些方式來充電重啟。 --- How do you divide your time between the U.S., Korea, and anywhere you’re required to travel in between? Usually work will take me to all those places. Korea is currently my base so I’ m there plenty, but as my brand expands and I venture into more and more projects in the states, I’m in NY, LA and my hometown of SF a lot. And then of course, everywhere in Asia too, as I have a lot of amazing fans there. It’s my baby. The fulfillment of my dream of being a designer. I’ve invested in every single item we’ve released across the categories because I care about the products and the details. Every item in the skincare line, every piece of apparel is created to be something I would personally use and enjoy. BLANC & ECLARE is a real reflection of my style and aesthetic. Q：來聊聊BLANC&ECLARE吧 A：她是我的親親小寶貝我可愛的兒砸。他是我設計師夢想的現實體。我們發佈的每一個單品我都投入了大量心血，因為我很關心最終生產出的產品和細節。每一個護膚系列單品和每一件服飾都是按照我會自己使用和享受的標準來創造的。BLANC&ECLARE就是我個人風格和美學理念的真實投影。 ---- What’s the meaning behind the name? I wanted a name that would reflect the modern classic design aesthetic of what I was trying to create. I gravitated toward BLANC for its clean, crisp imagery, and ECLARE just complemented it with its Latin root of clarity and brightness. Q：BLANC&ECLARE的名字背後有什麼意義嗎？ A：我想要一個能體現出我一直想要創造的現代經典的設計美學的名字。於是引用了BLANC( 法語：白)來體現乾淨明快的圖像風格，ECLARE則是它的補充，它是一個拉丁詞，意為清晰和明亮。 ---- What’s the one thing you can’t live without from the current collection? I love my comfortable sweatshirts. When I’m home, I like to lounge and be cozy, and my sweatshirts get it just right. Q：必不可少的收藏單品是什麼？ A：我喜歡穿很舒服的運動衫。在家的時候，我喜歡舒適放鬆地休息，我的運動衫就能讓我恰到好處的達到這樣的狀態。 ---- Where do you like to shop when you’re not wearing cool pieces from your own brand? I enjoy exploring vintage shops. They always have extraordinary pieces that are really special and often unlike what is current and trending. Q：你不穿自己品牌酷酷的衣服時喜歡去哪裡購物？ A：我很喜歡逛復古店。它們總有一些非同一般的東西，非常特別，不像當下正流行的那些爛大街的東西。 ---- If you could eat one thing exclusively for the rest of your life, what would it be? Does wine count as food?
