Cate paranormal, raves Spielberg Helen Trinca | April 26, 2008 CATE Blanchett has a "paranormal" capacity to transform herself on screen, says one of her biggest fans, filmmaker Steven Spielberg. In an exclusive interview ahead of the release of the fourth Indiana Jones movie, in which Blanchett stars, Spielberg said theAustralian actor had remarkable and "seamless" performance skills. "She is the woman of a thousand faces and I find it as paranormal as some of our premises that she can so utterly transform herself into the character she is playing and then the second that I say 'cut', she is back with her Australian accent and kids on her knees being a mom and wife, and a really good mate for the other cast members and the crew," he said. "I think it is remarkable about her - her performance skills, her transitioning to character are justseamless." In Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, to be released worldwide next month, Blanchett plays a Russian agent. The hero, Indiana Jones, is played once again by Harrison Ford. It is the first time Blanchett has worked with Spielberg. Interviewed in his office in Los Angeles for The Weekend Australian Magazine, Spielberg said that Blanchett was "born to do what she is doing ... I don't think she had any options. This is her only option. What a gift she has." Spielberg who is arguably the world's most influential filmmaker and the director of all four Indiana Jones movies, agrees that Blanchett's recent highly acclaimed role as Bob Dylan in the movie I'm Not There showed she was a great mimic. However, he said: "She also brought a fury that I hadn't really seen in the real Bob Dylan, and a patience to it, which I loved." Spielberg who has cast other Australian actors, including Eric Bana in Munich and Frances O'Connor in Artificial Intelligence: AI, said there had been a "tsunami" of creativity in Australia. "Ever since My Brilliant Career, there has just been an explosion of creativity on a massive scale in Australia." he said. "Even before that, with The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith ... George Miller, Fred Schepisi. There's just a tsunami of exciting cinema that came out of your country, and it hasn't stopped." Along with Tom Hanks, Spielberg is an executive producer of the 10-part television mini-series The Pacific, which is set during World War II and is being shot in Australia. The Seven Network is a co-producer of the show. Spielberg said that while he "watched dailies and made my notes", he was not planning to come to Australia for the shooting. Now that the Indiana Jones project is complete, he is working on other ventures, including a film on Abraham Lincoln and the story of the 1968 Chicago Seven demonstrators. After more than 30 years of intense and eclectic filmmaking, these days he chooses "whatever interests me". http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...-16947,00.html -- 【2007】凱特布蘭琪【要拿女主角】 ~CATE BLANCHETT~ The Golden AgeI'm Not There -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.217.212.124
