Oscarwatch影迷jinx去了TGG的試映大RAVE!!!! especially for Cate 這下子好看了... http://www.oscarwatch.com/forums/showthread.php?p=655186#post655186 OMG!!! OMG!!!! OMG!!!! That's all I heard tonight while leaving the Tribeca Screening Room along with other attendees of guilds screening of Good German. Yes, I have finally seen it, and my wait was rewarded!!!! It is officially the best movie I have seen this year and I found my official movie obsession of 2006! I will start with the negative. The film will likely bomb Box-Office wise or in best case scenario will make its budegt back, fingers crossed. This is film that every film lover, film student and film professional will love. But it will not resonate with the contemporary audience due to its old-fashoned style of filmmaking. It is sad. Other htan that I could not find a single flow in this masterpiece. Amazing script by Paul Attanasio translates the book to the screen so well you can remember every signle line and every single misenscene for the rest of your life. The cinemtography by Peter Andrews reminds the works of Kalatozov, you can stop the film at any point and have the perfect picture to frame. The Score will be really hard to beat this year by anyone, from the start it puts right into the necessary mood and still haunts me. Now the best part. Everyone here already knows how much I admire Cate Blanchett so many will take this as a grain of salt, BUT this is the best female performance of the year. YES, I said it, it beats even Helen Mirren, something I thought would never happen till tonight. MESMERISING, HAUNTING, MISTERIOUS, HORRIFYING, PITYFUL, BEAUTIFUL, and many more adjective I can use to describe Cate and her charcter in Good German. I can not imagine the voters not checking her name when they see her on the ballot. The last line of the film, the ones who saw know what I am talking about, left me speechless and with goosebumps by the way she delivered that horrifying and yet so sad shocking revelation to Geroge Clooney's character. Ohh, I need to see it again and I am sure I will as there is so many little details any cinephile will really admire. And last words about the audience I saw it with. I think I was lucky with the corwd there were about 60 people at the screening most of them at least people around me introduced themselves as WGA members. When the last famous scene in the rain appeared there were giggles in the audience not negative I believe but more sort of familiarity and curiousity. BUT when Cate and George exchange the last dialogue the was dead silence and it lasted up untill the END of the credits. I think about 5 people left before but almost everyone stayed till the very end. From the conversations I overheard there were words like "great", "loved it", "she is amasing", "OMG, HER!!!", "the score!!!" I know that this is not indicator of how people actually vote but I seriously believe that the tech guilds and writers will eat this with a spoon. Script, Score, Cinematogrpahy, art direction, sound, editing, actress are very very high possiblities.
