October 29, 2006 -- AMONG the guests at the dinner in L.A. for Marisa Acocella
Marchetto after her reading of "Cancer Vixen" were the agents who just optioned
the book to Cate Blanchett, who will star in the movie version with Sam Raimi
directing. Marisa, who cartoons for The New Yorker, chronicled her brave but
comic battle against breast cancer in the illustrated memoir. Transplanted New
Yorkers Ilene Rosenzweig and Rick Marin helped Marisa and her restaurateur
husband, Silvano, celebrate at Simon, Kerry Simon's new eatery at the Hotel
Sofitel, with Jane Long Gering, a private fashion consultant to industry bigs,
and NBC drama development biggie Katie O'Connell.
