FORGET the amazing career, the loving husband and the cute children.
It seems Aussie actor Cate Blanchett can thank a Japanese monk for keeping up
her glowingly good appearances.
Blanchett returned to her hometown of Melbourne last night to launch Myer's
exclusive addition of cult Japanese cosmetic brand SK-II.
A Japanese monk, who visited a Kobe sake brewery 25 years ago, devloped the
skin-care range when he noticed the hands of brewery workers were soft and
youthful.
According to SK-II legend, the monk conducted a series of experiments and
discovered a clear, nutrient-rich liquid could be extracted during the yeast
fermentation process.
Named pitera, the all-natural yeast derivative is the unique ingredient, which
apparently gives SK-II followers the fountain of youth. It is claimed pitera
can increase skin cell metabolism by up to 70 per cent.
An exclusive cocktail party was hosted for Blachett, mother of Dashiell, 2, and
Roman, 17 months.
