He made his film debut in the 1990 Western, Young Guns II, and since then has shown up in a variety of TV shows and films including network series like Sex And the City, The West Wing and Ally McBeal, and such flicks as the Kevin Spacey-Helen Hunt vehicle Pay It Forward (2000) and the obscure romantic comedy, Little City (1997). "In the music business, I'm Brad Pitt, I'm Tom Cruise, I'm Johnny Depp. But in the film business, I'm Elvis Costello. I get great reviews, but don't have commercial success," he admitted, adding such work requires a significant attitude adjustment on his part. "The greatest lesson I learned from movies is that there is an added level of humility," he said. He noted there have been plenty of instances where he would have loved to offer suggestions on how a scene should be done, but was forced to bite his tongue and let those in charge call the shots. "It's hard for me to come in and be the "bass player,' -- to just come in (do your job) and leave," he said. "I just have to shut up and listen and deal with it. "But (it's an) opportunity for me to learn something new in the arts."
