Blue's Back With ''One Love''
from mtvasia
Singapore -- Blue might have pulled out of their Asian tour due to
Lee's recent go-karting accident but the rest of the guys are not
letting their Asian fans down. Duncan, Antony and Simon are
currently on a short promo trip for their new single "One Love"
around Asia and they finally made it to Singapore to meet members of
the press yesterday.
And the moment Duncan, Antony and Simon breezed their way into the
Ritz Carlton ballroom, the first question was obvious. How's Lee?
"He's fine. It's a bit of a nasty shock. But I can say that he has
made a full recovery. The doctors told him that they didn't want him
to go out to Asia due to risk of infection because his stomach's got
a lot of wounds. He's okay, at home and a bit bored and depressed.
Other than that, he's fine," explained Simon.
With assurance from Simon and a video message from Lee who seemed to
be recovering well, fans finally can take their mind off Lee's
injury. And if you are wondering why Blue didn't continued the Asia
tour with Lee, Duncan has only this to say.
"We are a four-piece band. Blue is me, Antony, Simon and Lee. If one
of us isn't there, then it's not Blue. So we always maintained that.
I think the fans would love to see all of us perform. We came over
here in effort to try patch up any damages that was caused. We are
mostly here to do some promotions to catch up with the fans 'coz we
know they must be very disappointed. The tour has been re-scheduled
to next year. So we look forward to coming back here and giving
everybody here a full show with new songs from the new album as
well."
The new as-yet-titled album, which the lads described as "tougher
and edgier" will be released on November followed by a U.K. tour.
Other than the usual up-tempo tracks, a few classic ballads, the
lads will also be working with Rob Davis, who produced Kylie
Minogue's "Can't Get You Our Of My Head," for a "surprise dance
track." The first single, a sleeky up-tempo R&B tune that follows
Blue's previous style titled "One Love" has been set for release in
October. The accompanying video, that was shot in the streets of LA,
was also shown at the press conference.
"We've been away for a few months without releasing a single. We
thought it would be very important to come back with a new album
with the Blue sound that was created by songs like 'All Rise'
and 'Fly By.' So we worked back with Stargate who produced those
tracks. We think it's quite important for people to know instantly
that that's a Blue song on the radio," said Duncan. "We wanted the
song to appeal to not just kids, but also the people who bought our
records."
Despite the group's success in the UK and Asia (their debut album
sold close to 30,000 units in Singapore and the group was presented
with a platinum plaque by EMI Records at the press conference), Blue
have no ambition for America yet.
"I think with America you need four to six months. It's not easy.
We're hoping in a couple of years but we are hoping to break other
countries we have broken with the first album. You know, places like
Asia, most Scandinavian countries, Middle East. We want to crack on
it and earn lots of money," joked Antony.
For the fans who bought tickets to Blue's Asian Tour, take note.
Although the group has mentioned that the tour has been postponed to
next year, there's no firm date for the re-scheduled tour yet. From
the official statement by Midas Promotions, ticket holders are urged
to hold on to their tickets until further notice. However, in any
event that Midas Promotions cannot reschedule a new concert date by
August 31, 2002, an official statement will be announced and all
tickets will be refunded by SISTIC. For more information regarding
