梅艷芳舊年的無線電台訪問
這個訪問是葉麗欣跟陳欣建替Anita做的。
暫時只找到英文的,如果找不到中文…要我自己翻?!
說不定另外一個板主心血來潮囉~
The interview was hosted by Philip Chan and Francis Yip. I don’t know the year
this interview took place, but not long after Mui won the New Singers Contest,
you know her hair style, the way she talked and dressed can tell.
She talked about her early days when she started to perform with her C-fu, she
was not paid for anything. She didn’t know the meaning of those songs, or thos
e Chinese local songs, so she just followed the expression of the adults. Then
she mentioned her sister matured earlier than anybody else, while she later tha
n anybody else. But they two always had to sing as a pair, her sister as female
, she as male. Her sister was taller than her by 3 heads. So what sisters group?
should be mother-daughter group.
Also her voice was very loud, the audience normally looked up the stage to look
for her, but normally could not find her, as she was so small behind the speak
er.
She mentioned in the 1970s, the mainstream is Taiwan singers, so HK singers wer
e only as secondary. Often when the Taiwan singers sang the songs they original
ly prepared for the night, they had to shift to another song immediately. Norma
lly not easy, as other songs might not be the right key for them and etc. For t
his she often argued with the managers of the “song parlours”, as she was hot
tempered, and she had to her own neck. She even swore to one of the managers,
“don’t let me get famous, if there is such a day, you just die.”
Both Francis and Philip started singing when they were quite young too and they
had experience of performing in South East Asia such as Malaysia and Singapore
. So they shared some funny experience.
Philip said once when he was performing in Singapore, the band was so lousy, ne
ver on key for any single time, for his 28 shows (2 shows for 14 days). Francis
said when she was in Malaysia singing, the guy played the trumpet always start
ed first before the other instruments were played. On the 3rd day, she couldn’
t help but asking him why he could not wait for others to start at the same tim
e. He said because he was didn’t have enough breath
Then Mui said one day when she was in Malaysia performing. The MC had a day off
, so the leader of the band acted as MC. After he had “Ladies and Gentleman”,
the sport light flashed on the stage trying to focus on him, but could not fin
d him. Finally he was found struggling to get up from the floor and busily putt
ing his wig onto his bald head. The fact was that he stepped on some dry ice th
at was placed near the stage and he fell flat on the stage right after he said
“ladies and gentlemen.”
At that time, the audience ate and drank at the same time. Singers were never r
espected.
Mui said her schoolmates treated her as weird creature. But she thought they we
re weird too as they were so ignorant. Before the age of 10, she never felt her
life was difficult. But after 10, she felt the pressure, because she had to go
to school during the day and returned home from singing very late around 2:00a
.m. to 3:00a.m.
Mui was asked if she had ever made a wish that she would make herself a famous
singer. She said not really. Only when she saw some super stars on TV, then she
would say to herself she wished to be as famous as So and So. The other time s
he would tell herself that she must be a famous singer was after she got scolde
d by her mother. “Sing for so many years, still no improvement ”.
Anyhow, Mui said she always told herself, as long as she tried her best, she wo
uld not care too much about the end result。
