From China Post 翻譯: Sinclair (雖然在下翻譯的不盡完美,但翻譯也是需要一點時間,請勿任意轉載, 謝謝^^想順便學英文的大大可以看英文版的,我也提供了全文翻譯) TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Acclaimed(受人讚揚的)Taiwanese singer A-mei awarded(授與) Tuesday ten indigenous(原民的) students with scholarships(獎學金) to cover tuition fees(學費) for the upcoming(即將到來的) school year and further(進一步地) committed(承諾) at providing(提供) for talented(有才能的) indigenous students who are otherwise deprived(貧困的;被剝奪的) due to poverty(貧窮). In addition, the Mandopop(華語流行樂) star — a colloquial(口語的) abbreviation (縮寫) for artists(藝術工作者) singing “Mandarin(華語的) popular music” — donated(捐贈) NT$500,000 to Christian(基督徒的) relief(救濟) organization(組織) World Vision Taiwan, for a new scholarship fund(基金), titled(命名) the Dream Fulfillment Scholarship Project(圓夢獎學金計畫). The scholarship winners were selected(挑選) from among 40,000 of World Vision's sponsored(贊助的) children in Taiwan based on their discovered talents or exceptional(卓越的) academic(學術) performance(表現). “Everyone has a dream,” said A-mei during the inaugural(開始的;就任的) press conference(記者會). “Many children have talents that are recognized(被賞識) by their teachers, or they have exceptional grades. Unfortunately(不幸地), those talents are so often wasted(浪費) simply(只是) because the children lack(缺乏) the resources(資源) to keep on nurturing(滋養;使學習更多) them,” she added(補充說明). Now, with the help of the Dream Fulfillment Scholarship Project, these children are awarded a chance(機會) to become specialized(專業的) in their talents and to have their dreams come true(實現), she pointed out(指出). A-mei is also known as(以..而知名) Chang Hui-mei and her aboriginal(原住民的) name Gulilai Amit (A-mit). Born into the Puyuma tribe(部落) and a family with nine siblings(兄弟姊妹) in a remote(偏遠的) village in Taiwan, she encountered(遇見;邂逅) many of the same challenges(挑戰) that the awardees (受獎者) face(面對;遇到) every day. Her hard work and magnetic(有磁性的;有吸引力的) personality(特質) allowed(允許) her to rise(出人頭地) above these humble(卑微的) beginnings and to the top of the Mandopop charts in 1996. For the next ten years it has been a full(完整的) schedule of star-studded(充滿巨星風采的) concerts and TV appearances(出現) making her the undisputed(無庸置疑的) queen of Taiwan's music scene. Despite(儘管) this celebrity(名人) status(社會地位), A-mei has never been ashamed of(以...為恥) her roots(根本) or her upbringing(教養), appearing(出現) in numerous(無數的) TV programs(節目) showing her return to her native(原住民的) village and the life of Taiwan's aboriginal people. “Whenever I participate in(參加) charity events(慈善活動), I always wonder(想...) if(是否) there is a most direct(直接的) and targeted(指標的) way of helping indigenous children. This idea and dream had already originated(起源) several years ago,” she remarked(評論;表示). “I will begin to do everything within my power,” A-mei went on(繼續說道). “We will start slow, and perhaps in the future we can do something that is more, and greater — this will be a continuous(連續的) process(過程).” Ever since(自此之後) she came into contact(和...有接觸) with World Vision after the 9/21 earthquake in 1999, A-mei has been inspired(受啟發) by the love and passion she sees within the organization. She has since participated in various(很多的) activities(活動) sponsored by World Vision, such as becoming the spokesperson(發言人;代言人) of the 16th 30-Hour Famine(飢餓)_ and making a trip to visit refugees(難民) living in the dangerous(危險的) conditions(條件) of Sudan.
