哈哈 用英文要介紹一個人給陌生人還真是累
She was once the cover people of Time magazine (2002), and she was
interviewed by CNN (2000), Discovery channel (2006), and Reuters (2007). She is
Hui-mei Chang or Amei as she is more often called.
Amei’s success, according to the program “Portraits Taiwan” in
Discovery channel, can be attributed to three qualities. The first one is her
unbridled way of performing, which shocks the traditional one. In the 90s in
Taiwan, all the pop music singers sang and performed in a more conservative way
and the audience listened to them quietly. The appearance of Amei changed
everyone’s perception of Taiwan’s pop music, or the Mandopop (Mandarin pop)
music. In her concerts, everyone would jump up and down and sing loudly and
heartedly with her as if they were her chorus. She sang and danced wildly with
the whole body moving to the music, symbolizing the awakening and emancipation
of female roles. The second one is her powerful and catchy voice and the
variety of her music, ranging from Lyrics, Bossa Nova to dance music or rock
music. With her particular voice, her debut album, Sisters, was a smash success
and then her voice spread across Asia, and beyond. With such touching voice,
many people going to her concerts (in Dec. 22-24, 2007) said they burst out
crying when listening to her singing. The last one is that she keeps seeking
for progress and variation, so that her fans won’t get bored of her
performance. She tries to hold either big concerts or mini-conerts in pub,
and to perform in a musical, like “Love Carman”(2006) in Taiwan and the
adapted version of “Turandot” (2008) in Japan. Besides, she is kind to
everyone and usually approachable; that’s why all the fans love her so much.
It is such spirits that makes her shine brightly, and she will still move
everyone in the coming decades.
